bruh, anons on /ic/ say it takes no more than 4-5 years to git gud, 1 if you grind like a madman like algenpfleger.

>> No.4196414

So begs don't fall for your bait:

He's talking about 10-13 years to draw full figures flawlessly from imagination in different poses and perspective as he can do now

kjg ink entire figures onto paper with no undersketch in perspective and odd poses

your average /ic/ user cant even draw a head with reference

>> No.4196816

It doesn't take 10-15 years, people (especially children) can learn a lot faster in much less time if they dedicate the time to it and have good instruction. But getting as good as him where you can ink directly without underdrawings or constructing will take much longer.

>especially children
Children learn objectively much slower. It's just that they can learn more intuitively since they don't have tons of thoughts wearing them down.

It's from the 90's so it's flipped.
Read it like a normal western comic.

How crazy would it be if an artist was so skilled that he draws the toe, then jumps to the left ear, then draws an elbow, then the inner legs, then the hair, on and on until he draws the entire body like it were a puzzle being put together. And even more insane, if he shaded too.

They even ripped this off of famous cartoon course. So it's fair

it's funny how the advice for that is so poorly done, and yet fucking beg crabs will take it as something serious rofl

if it takes you five or six hours to draw a single figure you need some fucking loomis in your life

>If you spend five or six hours on just one figure, you'll never be able to mass produce your work.
>Manga flourished thanks to the fact that no one got upset over incremental imitations.
so much truth condensed into 2 pages. Modern "high art" focuses on being unique and look where that got it. Most d/ic/ks scoff at the idea of copying and most d/ick/s are bad too.

You can always tell when somebody is at their first copy or 10th, but cant tell when somebody just did their 10.000th copy or imagination drawing.

somebody who has learned that lesson 10 years ago is not going to make a comic about it, and somebody who has just learned it is bound to be just starting out therefore mediocre at best

pyw and I bet it will not be as good as the comic you critique, but I know you wont

kjg actually does this more or less, and its not as difficult as you would think because drawing the extremities first gives you anchor points for the rest of the body, and you can adjust the bends of the limbs accordingly to fit it. For example, drawing a bike, then feet on the pedals, butt on the seat, hands on the handlebars, then the head is a perfectly valid way to approach the picture. If you arent familiar with the concept you should look up inverse kinematics. Its not an art term but the concept is very intuitive, in that it is much harder to draw a shoulder, elbow, forearm, and hand in that order and get the hand exactly where you want than it is to draw the hand, shoulder, elbow and forearm

>> No.4200321

>>4196673
I think you can figure that out for yourself

>> No.4200361

That actually sounds like a good way to keep your proportions in check. A foot and a head would approximately lay out the scale of the person's body very early on. It would also help with visualizing larger chunks of the image beforehand instead of each individual part, which would make fuck ups less common as you go along.
