I'm not into this kind of anthros but imagine that you're drawing a human face and "pulling" the whole nose/mouth area forward. These are not strictly animal skulls, they're deformed human skulls.

I mostly like how angular it is and I like how the whole body is caricatured. It’s not just an animal head shoved on a human body. This moose is probably the better example, I like his legs.

It just occurred to me: what I’m looking for are anthros if Cedric Peyravernay designed them: extreme proportions, playing with morphology and the like. But something simple enough that I can animate, leaning more into cartoons but not into Zootopia territory.

I can't keep this up. I don't like it. This art style does not translate well into anthro unless you're trying to emulate the 60s-70s anthro cartoons.

It has no soul to it. The eyes are small, empty, and unexpressive. The faces look like they'll never be drawn beyond the 3/4s face pose they are in right now.

only if you do it realistically, the cartoon stuff is done with mostly human proportions. If you erase the snout you can always draw a human face and in many cases the corners of the mouth align with the middle of the eyes

Do more of those sketches, finished products like these make your art look like tumblr trash. It's not about "what looks clean" it's about the idea you're trying to convey. More practice will make it cleaner as you go.

If you want to get into anthro drawing DO NOT COPY Tumblr shit. It's a direct road to shitty city. You need to learn how to draw the real life animals first, not hardcore realistically but to get an understanding of the general anatomy and structure, especially the legs.

From non-furries it's impossible, you'll inevitably get comments like "ewww you're a furry!!!" even if you draw other things too and you draw only SFW.
If you just don't want attention from furries then just don't draw blatantly fetish stuff, sparkledogs or furries with modern clothes on acting like American youth, or simply don't advertise yourself to furries. There are so many furry artists at this point that it's impossible to get attention from the fandom if you don't actively advertise yourself to furries, and if you don't draw porn it's incredibly hard to get a furry following anyway.

Hah, I wish. I drew some really tame anthropomorphic animals, more cartoony and cute than "standard" furry stuff and I still got a bunch of nsfw furry accounts following me. If you draw anthro animals your stuff gains a little bit of attention, furries are going to find you eventually.
