You have to find a reason for Japanese people to want to follow your account. If youre not at the level of the examples in the OP pic the easiest way is drawing a lot of fanart for a certain fandom (video games, anime, etc). It doesn't even have to be newer anime. I see that old anime like ranma still have active artist communities

I joined a random Japanese discord and was put into voice chat automatically. I spoke my broken Japanese and they seemed to like me. They asked for my twitter, I posted it and they all followed me. I'm not very good but we all like the same shit (touhou) so they like me. Every now and then they'll invite one of their friends and that's another person in the community that will follow me and I'll interact with. I feel bad though, each of these guys have like 5k+ followers and my art isn't really that great. It's a bit stressful in hindsight, but whatever. These dudes even invited me to comiket to hang out. Met them last month.

Usually my experience with them as well. They've been kind and don't kick up fuss about stuff. What's really popular right now is FGO{Fate Grand Order) characters. Third you gotta learn all the japanese hashtags that other japanese anime artist like to use. That's because they are vague "anime brown" and not analogous to real black features. When you have characters who are supposed to actually represent real world black people they are way more exaggerated. This, however makes it possible to just draw brown anime girls without it having to be some grand political statement like what has poisoned the western circles. You occasionally see western SJW shitheads harassing japanese artists for drawing characters "too white" which really highlights this issue. The japs just want to draw a vaguely anime brown qts, but to westerners it's the same as "whitewashing" if they alternate the amount of brownness even slightly.
