IF YOU ARE A /BEG/INNER IN ART, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice. We should not have to make new threads or post in the /draw/thread with our fundamental exercises.

Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, or you literally are never going to make it

Bring your perspective points closer together. Your technique is sound, but the points are too far apart and it's warping your perspective quite a bit. You'll become more sensitive to the warping effect as you practice.

Yeah it's ink. That is exactly why I've been trying to do these with it. I feel like if I cannot use an eraser I have to be more committed to what I put down on paper but on the other hand it also makes me for fearful of laying anything down, hence the scratching.

Switched to almost exlusively digital a couple of months ago and have been noticing a lot of strain on my wrist.

In my experience there are three things that happen exclusively with digital drawing:
1. Using the buttons on the stylus, which overworks your thumb or index finger. This will lead to carpal tunnel.
2. Grabbing the stylus too hard and making more strokes than usual when using a low opacity. This leads to numbness in the fingertips.
3. Resting the forearm against the edge, or the elbow on top of the table. This impedes circulation.

The only solution to these problems is to be cognizant and stop doing them.

I'm trying to figure out what my next steps should be in terms of study. At the least I need to study hands/feet/the head as their own individual subjects but there are also multiple anatomical landmarks that could use some improvement.

The anatomy is all over the place.
No perspective or foreshortening.
No shading.
No feet.

Can't even color inside the lines.
Random pattern on swimsuit doesn't follow contours.
Thumb is as long as a fucking cucumber.
Tube arms.
Blushing looks like she just got hit in the face with a football.

And finally, stop drawing children.

>> No.4097390

I'm trying to wrap my head around what to use for drawing on paper that would allow for good line variation without the need to go for A3 pages as I don't have the place to store them at the time.

-Brush pen/brushes kind of need at least A4 and preferably A3 though they do give good lines
-Dip pens seem to be a good variant but a pain in the ass to use and you still need a lot of space for setup, unless you are willing to spill the ink everywhere.
-Fineliners and similar give pretty much uniform lines.

-Ballpoint pens are good in theory, but they suck if you want to work over a pencil sketch.

Tried to really pay attention and directly compare the differences to traditional and I'm definately doing 2.
Think it's due to having to resort to a writers/ tripod grip and trying to get control back through pure pressure alone.
Tried to relax a little during these and it was definately more manageble (bit hard to tell from just one session) but I lost some control as a result, guess I just have to get used to it and build different muscle memory.

I have no idea if this helps, but I did a drawover.

The main thing is that we can see her lats and the side of her ribs, so therefore we must be seeing her ribs from a relatively 3/4 angle. If so, the further breast must be smaller than the close breast, if the breasts are to sit on the chest correctly. Notice how the pec still pulls up into the humerus.

Don't mind the proportional differences. I'm not used to drawing muscular women like that. The main problem was with how the breast laid onto the chest. The same principle works with big monstrous breasts too like the ones you were trying to draw. Be careful of drawing the breasts too roundly, in the reference picture here: >>4097940, the breasts are hanging off the chest due to the lean forward. The breasts are supposed to be like water balloons, compressing from gravity.

I'd guess you are over thinking it
Try to focus on one stage of construction at a time, such as where the major segments of the body are, and the position of the legs
Start with just circles and lines and only add detail once you get the proportions right
Think of it as adding layers

This is too advanced for you. You're fumbling around with anatomy, without a real understanding of form.

(And using exaggerated porn as a reference)(Don't do that)

Breasts don't work like that
Thighs don't look like that
Hips don't look like that
Shoulders don't look or work like that
The pose is unrealistic and awkward
The face is a complete cop out
You're drawing what you think is there
Elbows don't work like that
You don't understand how the torso is built, and the transition from the pelvis to the rib cage, and just throwing lines in hoping it works
You have no real skill at proportions
You would not see her belly at that angle, in that position

Go back and start from the beginning. Learn how the basic forms of the body work, before attempting to exaggerate them. You have a lot of work to do, before attempting something like this. Or, you can keep fumbling around in the dark, getting frustrated and getting nowhere.

But you're not even doing that. You can't skip the whole part about learning how basic anatomical structures work, before stylizing them in a cartoon. And, because it's so awkward and poorly constructed, it's not even a pleasing image.
This is what critique is - telling you what you need to work on. If all you're gonna do is respond to everyone with "No u, it's fine" - then why bother posting at all? Draw what you want. But if you want to LEARN - listen.

Maybe if you tried to arrange for a model instead of just lashing out like an angry child, you could get more done? Access to models is not that hard, especially in the west. Most colleges and community colleges and adult education programs have easy to access and relatively inexpensive figure drawing classes. There are local coops and groups who hire models and hold drawing sessions, sharing the model fee. You can hire a model from the same modeling guilds and agencies the schools use. You can advertise on Craigslist.
But I know you'll just complain and rant and be angry on the internet, because it's not really about that, is it.
