Alright someone explain this shit to me

Not watched the whole thing but it's what I thought and she's correct. That's cyan, not blue. RBY can't make every color and thus aren't the true primary colors. Artists are brainlets though and cry whenever anything scientific comes up.

Watched the rest, magenta isn't represented by a frequency of light but the overlap of distribution when there's an equal amount of blue and red light.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magenta#In_optics_and_color_science

Note in this bar magenta doesn't exist like all the other colors. Magenta is formed by red and blue which is what she means when she says it doesn't have a wavelength.

The deeper science of color matters very little unless you're in the business of display development or pigment production.
It's fun trivia, but it won't make you a better artist.

let me know when you came up a different word for it and everybody started using it. until then, for me, that is blue

This was actually really interesting.

I wonder why we still teach the R/G/Y system. It's not like red or green is easier to get paint for than cyan and magenta.

Do people really have an issue with understanding the difference between cyan and blue, and magenta and purple? Is this a culture thing?

At first I though this would be a shitty video from a random YouTube art hoe, but it was actually pretty good and explains everything very well.

>Alright someone explain this shit to me
She literally explains everything in brainlet terms, as simply as possible, you absolute retard. Not to mention that you're really supposed to know this already if you're older than 15 and are interested in art.

>Watched the rest
Then why are you writing this?

Knowledge of the scientific and hyper technical aspects of color theory seems to have ZERO carry over to making aesthetic and pleasing color choices in art. Just look at the work of the hue value chroma guy. Ironically his use of color is bland and completely uninspired

yeah, the feminist talking really threw me off, but the info is great

Bitch discovered additive and subtraction color theory and now thinks she is a genius. Then again, RBY is such a huge meme that has gone on long enough.

>> No.4072761

OK video, but the science isn't settled for primaries yet. Look up 'Opponent Process'. Also, 'magenta isn't real because the human brain makes it up' is fucking retarded. ALL COLORS ARE MADE UP BY THE HUMAN BRAIN.

>> No.4073747

>>4072761
no, magenta is not a monochromatic light. she says this in the video. it's not on the color spectrum, you only get it with equal amounts of red and blue light from the same wavelength.

It'll make you a lot better at color mixing to actually know what you're doing.
