can anyone tell me what im doing wrong here? i make a sketch (all fine), i make base colors (all fine. But then i start the linework and it looks awful.

It might help to keep the same size for the pen. If you want some areas with thinner lines and enable the pen pressure settings and practice with your pen flow. Try drawing from the wrist to make smoother curves. Also when drawing one line try to not pick up the pen. Don't be afraid to alt+z to undo.
