I have always been facinated with drawing, it was always a dream of mine to be a good artist. My mind is always full of ideas that i want to put into reality on a peice of paper. i have been drawing every single day for as long as I can remember. The problem is that i suck at drawing. Ever since i was in kindergarten i drew every day but then there was this other kid who almost never drew and He was way better than me. Then in school there was this fat bitch who were Also better than me. She was so good in fact that she was even recieving money for her art. She was only fucking 13 and every single day i saw her i wanted to cut off her hands so that she couldn't ever draw again. The only thing i ever wanted to be good at in life was drawing so i worked hard everyday. For me to see People who are younger than me who didn't even work for it be a better artist than me fills me with anger. When ever i look at my sketchbook i want to Jam my fucking pencil into my eyes so that i can never look at the filth that i put into this world.
But anyway sorry to go on such a long rant i just needed to get that off my chest.
So does anyone have any exercises that you used to become better at drawing then please share.
If you're just here to call me an emo faggot then don't waste your time, i already called myself worse

I'm not going to read your wall of text idiot go read the damn sticky, grab some books from art thread for fundamentals, and practice every day.

Put your emo rage onto the paper and that’s the rough sketch.

Holy fuck stop being such a victim, people better than you either spent more time drawing, had better teacher or learning capacity. You can improve 2 of these, so stop sulking and do it. Read the sticky and find a mentor if you're serious.

I read the title of the thread and that's it. I don't know or care to dive into your motivations, but I will give you a few exercises to follow that will improve you. It's just like real exercise though- it will hurt and be uncomfortable, and it will take a long time to improve. You will improve though

Absolute Novice/beg/ level should focus on how to draw boxes & shapes in perspective. Doing this and getting good at it forces your brain to start to think in 3d while working with 2d shapes. It also improves your hand eye co-ordination. This is not a natural starting point for many artists, but, to allude to fitness again, it's like taking pre-workout. Your gains will be better when you apply your work.

Then, do photo studies. Anything you want to learn how to draw. Break things down into simple shapes and put them into perspective like the boxes from before. This is where you spend the bulk of your time studying after a while. Where you learn color, hue, sat. ect. Learning how to use reference is key

Then master studies. This is the hard shit, and you will hurt yourself if you dive in too soon. The masters knew what they were doing. Don't expect to be doing these within the first couple years of painting without completely hating every single bit of it

All the while, supplement your box drawings, photo and master studies with drawing whatever the fuck you want to relax

This is the most basic, surefire way to go from 0-100 as an artist. Not shown is the timeline of this. This shit takes a long fucking time. You can go months without change. People who don't study enough from multiple sources or only draw only from imagination can go years on end with no change in their work at all. You don't want that

This will become a major asset and part of your life, so don't go half way. Dive into this shit like scarface dove into that mountain of cocaine.

One final thing. Put your pettiness and quarrels with others aside. You don't have time for such things

Go to you local bookstore and stock up on learn to draw books. You need to follow guides to get good. Do not under any circumstances just draw freely because you will never improve that way. Your mind is a closed garden and you will grow nothing but weeds unless you buy and plant seeds from outside.

Master the fundamentals first, that would help you to think in 3d. There's a lot of resources online. Start by doing the beginner excercises at drawabox.com

not gonna read your gay blog, but here's the ultimate art redpill, are you ready?

-1: learn perspective, construction and drawing from reference
0: have sex
1. find artist or reference photo you like
2. download their art
3. trace the reference by constructing on top of their art on a new layer, taking notes of proportions and trying to understand why things bend and look certain ways
4. put the reference to the side, grab a new canvas and try re-constructing the reference again as closely and as properly as possible
5. hide the reference and your previous drawings and do it all over again a third time, this time from memory
6. if it looks bad, take note of your weaknesses and repeat steps 3-5 again. otherwise, move on to a new reference
7. once you start getting comfortable, try being flexible with your references and take your own liberties. draw from imagination as well

do this at least one hour a day (more if you have the time and don't work a full-time job) and within only a few weeks/months you will start noticing massive improvements as you build up your internal database of references in your memory

Mental exercises
>set a routine, dedicate any number of hours to drawing every day at the same hour
>this will take time, it's ok to suck while you learn a craft
>your drawings are not important, you are not married to them
>don't trash your drawings though, always find things you like in your drawings, even just one line that you think describes something well is worth saving and you will be able to look at that line and ask yourself why you like it. finding your direction when you see other art and recognizing things you like doing in other art is super important
>always keep in mind that you're doing this for your imagination / your vision and not money, popularity or whatever the fuck
>be curious about stuff and find beauty in things, you don't stop being an artist when you're not drawing
>always draw like your favorite artist is watching you draw
>don't quit your day job

Technical exercises
>There are two methods for drawing: copy or construction. Both have methods explained in books (sticky etc), for the time being pick one or the other, over time you'll branch out and do many different things but not now
>Focus on just drawing, if your drawing sucks as lines, rendering (shading) it won't save it
>focus on the simplest thing that isn't clear, and focus on one thing at a time. Try to compare your material with well made material and find ONE thing that the other drawing did better that you also do understand.
>always do the simplest possible drawing you can. Only describe what you think is necessary to describe. Every time you make a mark you should ask yourself if it's necessary to make that mark. it's ok to erase but try not to make marks you would erase in the first place
>take it slow, there is no value in shitting out a perfect drawing in 20 seconds, that's only to impress normies. once you get good you will get fast automatically

different question for someone whos already into art
How do I make myself practice more? used to be a 24/7 scribbler but I stopped around 2 years ago and its very visible in my progress and general work if I get myself back on the paper and it ruins my motivation completely.
How do I do more art, I even want to most of the time and have a good idea but I guess focusing for a long time is hard for me

Keep drawing the cool stuff thats in your head. If you stop drawing from your head and focus all on fundamentals you will loose your creativity. Now take a picture and draw it. Keep trying to get your drawing to look like the photo without shading. Then when you can do that accurately and fast. Start shading and learning how to represent the photo in black and white. Once you can do that. Move on to color. Now at this point you can actually go use the other annons advice in this thread with fundamentals. The boring shit will actually stick and make you go "O thats actually useful and not gay as fuck now."

Stop being envious of others, especially from people in your grade years. That’s very autistic and very clearly takes too much space in that tiny head of yours.

>How do I do more art
You just need motivation. Either you need the motivation to get good, or if you already, you need the motivation to build a fanbase.

If you always just draw for yourself, I think everyone would lose motivation sooner or later.
