Art school doesn't exist to take you from garbage artist to professional artist. It exists to give a structure to good artists so they can become better artists.

If you suck and don't strive to understand what you're learning there, you will still suck when you get out. If you're diligent and at a level where you're a good artist but still have room for improvement, you'll benefit more from artschool than you would from studying on your own.

Stop using anecdotes to justify your biases.
