What are your goals? What(and why) are you aiming to create/why do you draw/paint the things you've drawn? Whenever I see art online, I wonder what thoughts went behind that piece. I for one, cannot understand why someone chooses to draw whatever they draw in whatever state they do. This is basically the same for almost all of the illustrations I've seen online. The only place where I can understand the content is concept design, and illustrations that have a clear idea stated about what's going on. Anyone in the same boat?

I want to draw dreamy things to impress myself AND others. I want to do art that others can appreciate l, I wanna spread it. And well, I draw anime characters because that's what I know is cool, it's what gave me a dopamine rush in my childhood.

I'm just a beg, but I'm aiming for a style like this. Soft looking anime I call it. It's really fun to look at stuff like this, people on the stylization thread do good things too like this >>3828889 nice lights.

I want to draw a series of comics/illustrations to depict characters/scenery/adventures in muh imaginary worlds. It's to satiate this need for escapism that vidya, movies and books can't quite cover anymore.

It's a bit of a pipe dream, but I've always wanted to create my own independent animated miniseries (or trilogy of feature films). I'm a snobbish faggot who doesn't like modern animation much at all (except Slav arthouse stuff), so I've always wanted to see my idealized vision come to life and share it with others.

My more reasonable goal is to get to a professional level and one day share my original artwork with others (not interested in selling my art or 'making it' as a business, it's purely for mental masturbation and sharing ideas).
Oh, and I also want to one day become a god-tier artist for my specific fetishes, but that's more of the icing on the cake for me. I'd probably keep it on a secret account since I wouldn't want to reveal my power-level and scare normies.

I want to make comics, but if I'm not doing comic-related works then I'm just drawing whatever for the heck of it. It's fun to create pretty pictures, it's a stress outlet for me. What I do is meaningless for other people, no value even. But I find the process fun for myself. I don't think most of my art has much meaning beyond that, though. I guess that's why I like comics. I can stick a message in it that can connect with people, unlike my usual drawings.

Thanks mate. That means more than you know. I've got one more worth seeing, which is enclosed with this message!

If I can ramble for a second: I feel like chekhov's gun is a property of real life as well. The brain absorbs and notes pretty much everything it sees. As a result, theres a ton of actions that you take that only exist 'cause of an inconsequential meeting. Places like 4chan may seem like fleeting one-time talks, but they can probably bring you joy or pain that butterfly affects your whole life. Not a single moment is wasted!

I hope that thought helps you out a little. Thank you again for the compliment, it made my day.

the sole fact that by drawing a few lines, i can make whatever stupid crap that's in my brain appear into reality makes me want to draw.............. also, i found art to be the best way to communicate whatever i feel. im not good with words so often times, even if i explain an idea i have for a story or try to share a certain feeling by talking, it only ki n d of translates, and the people i talk to, aswell as myself loose interest... whereas with art, just by using some visual tricks and a few lines to represent stuff, whatever i want to communicate seems to translate better...

now every day i practise and try to get to the point where i can inspire the same feelings in someone else. i've been thinking about what makes something meaningful and what tiny details make a piece of art work, and that varies from person to person so i just have to strive to create things that make me cry, and if others are like me their tears will follow suit.

Some of them are kind of hard to find (only available on Slav websites if you use a vpn), but I can give you an example of more "well-known" modern Slav animation about Prince Vladimir: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqSBZ-FMzjs

Notice how it's similar to Disney, but has more much maturity and a 'fine art' quality to it.

While these next examples aren't 'modern', they're some of my all-time favorite animations (perhaps even favorite films too).

Mystery of the Third Planet:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TAmISW76Rk

The Return:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvwTSp26jB0

(And hands-down my personal favorite) The Pass:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Znoj7KT7ms

In my humble opinion, Western animation and anime can't compare to the raw artistic power of Slav animation. They have a consistent track record of being absolutely god-tier.
The Pass is better than Fantasia, imo. It's on par with Gerald Scarfe's work on The Wall, in terms of ascending animation and transporting you to another world. Name me one Western cartoon or anime that can do that.

Apologies for my sperging out.
