sakuge animation is when a segment/moment in an anime is drastically upped in animation quality for dramatic effect. forced animation is mostly a buzzword, it's when an animation is overly-animated, like too many keyframes for a simple movement. 99% of the time it's bullshit and extremely nitpicky

also i get that its an animation general and this is by no means no offense to you guys, but ive been seeing a lot of questions lately that could be easily answered by quick google searches, and would probably get you an answer faster than waiting for a random anon to reply to. its great to see people with genuine interest so keep asking, but its just odd to me to post such general questions.

There probably is. Just look, man.

One of the first things I think you'll want to do is change your next frame/previous frame hotkey to something intuitive like z and x, this lets you "flip" your frames easily while still having your hand mercifully close to those all-important "undo" keys.

Go to "settings > dockers" and you'll see all of the relevant windows for animation in Krita. To add a frame just right click on the timeline on a blank cel and select "create blank keyframe". Once a frame is created it is considered "exposed" until interrupted by a new frame.

You can change the range, opacity and color of your onion skin in that docker, you can change the color of keyframes in the timeline to separate inbetweens, keyframes and breakdowns if you want. You can control most of the important stuff by right-clicking on the timeline, everything's pretty self explanatory. Just mouse hover over the icons and they'll tell you what they do.

There is no "tweening" and it's still a little unstable but it's easily good enough to use for a beginner's practice. Good luck

The shoulder should move when her hand makes that motion. It looks very unnatural with that kind of movement with a heavy object, consider the weight. There also isn't enough anticipation for the hand, and it leads into her breathing in to blow the trumpet to soon. Making it a little awkward and less readable. Space those two actions out, also consider making her hand play a note by having one finger push a note. It'll turn out nicer. I liked the anticipation you added to blow the trumpet .

The most glaring issue is that sudden whiplash forward. It just looks retarded.
The arm is too straight.
Torso anatomy is bad.
There's no sense of proper planning/flow.
The instrument remains perfectly the same perspective when the top changes perspective to show rotation and depth, you have to do both not just for the top only.
The one thing I will give note to you is the subtle hand movement onto the keys.

I'm fine with her moving silly. That was my intent after all.
You're completely right regarding the arms. I'm suppose to draw the sleeves with some folds and creases and stuff like that. At least a few.
regarding torso anatomy... I might be misunderstanding how you're seeing her naked bod under her clothes but miss Kumiko wears her skirt above her hips.
And I assure you... I did try to plan the frames out. I tried for a sort of quick eye-opening bit- where after her eyes have shut- for one frame her eyes would open so hard they'd be stretched out a bit- but in the next frame they would be normal. This is so I could have her eyes change from one type to another. Although in retrospect I could have just have switched them out after she dips her head down. But I still think it looks kind of nice.
I have no excuse for the euphonium. I'm being very lazy regarding it and it shows. Sorry. I'll draw more frames for it.

Not him, but it's obvious that you can't draw. When animators can't draw they find ways to hide it skillfully. You don't know how to do that.

As far as animation goes, it's nothing. All stills with some repeating motions and quick actions. Then you have a couple of things that are motion tweened while all other movements are keyed. It makes it more jarring.

Your colors suck too. It's like a middle schooler using MSpaint for the first time.

good job on going through and finishing such a large project. finishing something isn't easy.
the visuals are interesting, but if you consider going into animation, try to learn the basics of anatomy, perspective and compositing.
now in my opinion, there's no need to hold back on working on your creative projects, you don't have to master every field, before you tackle a film, but try to learn from your mistakes and better do small projects that don't eat up your time too much.
you still have to go a long way, but you show tenacity and morale.
good luck!

I just really dislike one thing that you did and a lot of others do in 2D animation - at the beginning of the gif when the monster is taking shape, its legs stay fixed while the top half moves, I know the logic behind it (Why re-draw the same thing if it just stays in place) but man does it look uncanny, and I know this is rough animation so for the final product please take the time to draw at least two if not three frames of those legs and copy/paste those in the same position so at least it looks like you drew the entire thing all the way, that's what I do in my animations and it helps infinitely

The look of the lines suggest that you made this in Flash. If so, you can just infinitely scale your finished animation to whatever resolution you need. The canvas size in Flash doesn't mean shit, since everything is done with vectors. Animating with a 3500x2100 canvas would just take up unnecessary resources. As long as your resolution is 16:9, the final export through Swivel/After Effects is what matters.

>> No.3604900

>>3604815
how to set that?
how to export that?

>> No.3604942

>>3604900
First I'd recommend using a smaller canvas size. I use 960x540 because it's half of 1080p. When you click onto your blank canvas, the properties tab will show you what resolution your file is at. When you create a new document, it will let you choose your canvas size. Anything above 1280x720 is kinda ludicrous and unnecessary.

After you export your animation as a SWF file [CTRL-Enter], you could put the SWF into Swivel.
https://www.newgrounds.com/wiki/creator-resources/flash-resources/swivel
Swivel basically converts your SWF vector animation into an MP4 video. In the software, you could select what resolution you'd like the file to be converted to, and what bitrate you'd like your video to be.

Vectors aren't pixels, they're points that define lines and curves that eventually define a whole shape. This shape can be scaled infinitely larger or smaller. Swivel basically takes the entire SWF and all of the vectors inside, and scales it to fit a video resolution. It's similar to when you upscale an image in Photoshop, but without the loss of quality. So as long as the stage in your Flash document is set to a 16:9 aspect ratio, the resulting SWF file can be scaled up to a 1080p video or even 4K if you'd like.

If you want to reduce the size of your canvas but there's an animation already there; you could select all of the layers in the animation, then cut and paste them into an empty symbol. The symbol nests your whole animation inside of it, so now you could do camera pans, or just have an easier time placing it in the composition.

anyways yeah i get real autistic about this stuff

I've seen you working on this for months now. it's time to move on.
on a side note; posing and timing doesn't feel right. the anticipation looks great, but it doesn't pay off.
look at this reference, you can feel the force he needs to blow into the saxophone.
in your animation, the energy just poofs off. I see you used one smear frame to quickly move her instrument back up. why? don't fall in love with your frames, if they don't support the overall action, get rid of it.

From what I've seen and read so far, it looks like some animators here don't use Adobe **AfterEffects** and try to do all the Compositing and Sound in the animation program.
That sounds like **A LOT** of pain!
For simple stuff you probably don't need it, but if you have a background, foreground and would like to use some VFX, camera panning, 3D stuff and post-processing effects later, AfterEffects is a must have. Most animation studios use it and it's actually very easy to learn.

Another thing I've noticed is that especially beginners see animation from the wrong point of view.
I define Animation as filmmaking with a different medium. *(filmmaking in terms of recording some action, not actually bound to film)*

Why? Because in it's final form it's a video. Therefore **all filmmaking guidelines** can be applied. Probably the most important being **Composition**,like the rule of thirds, which is used nonstop in TV, film and photography.

In animation we pretty much emulate a real camera in the end (and of course are not restricted by the physical limits).
But since we are focusing only on the animation part, we can sometimes forget about the **directing** part and all the others *(just look how many phases/ departments a standard TV anime production has for example)*
I'd even say that animation is not about movement or the amount of frames. It's just another audio-visual time-based medium to tell a story.
The same goes for stop-motion and CGI/ 3D animation, etc. of course. Each medium has it's own advantages, disadvantages and unique look.

I really like this one, btw. Great camera movement and timing. Pretty epic.
