I would very much recommend reading his book PEAK. It's a great read and it's very accessible, I read it whole in one day. The Road to Excellence is an academic book and so it's very dry.

I don't think it does, but even if talent exists, I don't think there would be a talent for art. Everyone can learn how to draw, it's a skill based on observation, hand eye coordination skills, learned knowledge like anatomy, on physics and even math (perspective). Why should not somebody be able to learn perspective, anatomy or color theory? Everybody can learn those.

Why should one learn on their own? Even Craig Mullins, who is imo the best artist alive went to artschool, twice in fact. Once for industrial design, then for illustration. All the great artists in history had great teachers. As an example Frank Reilly studied under George Bridgman and also Dean Cornwell. Cornwell was a student of Harvey Dunn, and was Pyle's student.

Intelligence and IQ aren't the same thing. Other than for comparing one child's relative intelligence compared to statistical averages, IQ is pretty much just testing a kid's ability to take a test. It can be studied for and primed and your score can be improved. Your IQ can be super influenced by your first language. It's a meme for average people.

B: It goes without saying that people that excel at technical or creative production are going to be "intelligent." They will undoubtably demonstrate relatively high spatial intelligence. The reason why IQ is generally stupid, particularly for creatives, is that it's basically testing 3 major things. And "artistic geniuses" more often than not are going to score a relatively average IQ score, even if when it comes to spatial awareness you're a fucking mutant.
