tablet lacks the resistance of paper. I find it helps to tap a piece of paper on top of your tablet surface for a more familiar feedback.

Also it helped me to download a pencil type of brush with some texture and opacity to it for sketching. The texture and opacity make the lines kind of vague leaving more room to refine it later in whatever your process is.

Screen tablet? I bought an android one for sketching because trying to achieve the same results during what's supposed to be the loosest phase of drawing on a tablet without a screen was pain in comparison to pencil on paper. Now, it's just comfy, and I personally didn't need an iPad Pro or whatever because I'm going to do everything serious on the computer, just wanted to get that rough stage out before it started feeling like a chore.

you can legit just do this to a hard round. Add some opacity jitter if you want it to have more "grain" to it. It's Good Enough For Me™.

I had this problem up until the exact point where I started using a tablet with a screen and pressure sensitivity
I'm guessing you're using a tablet without a display

Anyone got an ipad pro? I've read those feel pretty good to draw on but im not convinced and have yet to try it out. thinking of getting one.

Apparently theres no buffer between the glass and the screen. I think theres some screen protectors that will make it feel more like paper too.

Why the fuck """"pencil-like"""" brushes always have this retarded scattering.
This shit looks (and feels) more like chalk on asphalt rather than pencil on paper.

It's more for the roughness/randomness involved in paper grain than looking like an actual pencil. I don't give a shit how close it looks to real media, it's the sketch stage. The point is emulating the feel of it rather than the look.
If I wanted to emulate a real pencil I'd reach a few feet to my right and grab my actual sketchbook because any digital brush I've tried that looks like actual graphite only manages it by being used completely differently. When you're trying to emulate the look of dry media it's generally going to be by using effect brushes rather than using the brush like you'd use that actual media unless you're using Painter or something, since most of the time going over the same area twice with the brush is going to eliminate the texture as it builds up to the max opacity of the brush.

Use Binary Brush/Pencil, learn the hotkeys to create/merge down layers.
Binary brush is advantageous since it's straight on/off, no pixel will be any more or less transparent than another, and you can just anti-alias the lineart later. Alternatively you can set your canvas up to be exported at 50/75% zoom and the lines will anti-alias themselves. If you're having trouble adding tapered lines, line weight, anything like that, you can just create a new layer and add/erase thickness from the line and then merge it down.

literally only for coloring and lazy it up to paint bucket it
besides youre forced to be more clean with pixel brushes, it is not forgiving.
