Mech Challenge: It's up to a honor system whether you meet the prescribed threshold of polish and design integrity. I personally will participate in the challenge but will likely not attach my final product.
DrawABox: As someone has said before, a confusing aspect of the description indicates that to get the badge, all you have to do is submit something DAB related for 30 days. Apologies to anyone who's been putting in additional effort, but hey, you're doing it for you, not for some silly badge.

Moreover, I've pushed out the album challenge end date to June 22nd.

The original prompt indicates that the required threshold for the final product is something of professional or close-to-professional concept art caliber, hence the prestige 4 rating.
I'm pretty much incapable of matching that, so while I'll use it as an exciting opportunity to practice my primitive sense of construction and draw from imagination, something I do scarcely, I'm deliberately abstaining from acquiring the badge.
We talked about the possibility of a tribunal to judge high-level prestige challenge submissions, but that's going to come as sort of a low priority feature.
And even then, the bottom line is that everything on the site is meant to be an opportunity to learn new things, so the badge is ultimately secondary to that.

From what I gather, I'm pretty sure Susipari was a week oner in OG LAS, they were active in the LAS stream chats and even streamed themself, Niche made the LAS Discord and Susipari along while a large number of LASsies joined it. Well, the final product doesn't have to be concept art, but it should have a level of polish befitting something close to professionally presentable.

Otherwise, the prestige should be set to 3. 4 and 5 should really be reserved for extremely difficult challenges.

I don't think I've improved a lot desu, just got better at polishing turds. I still can't paint people from imagination very well, my values are terrible, super high saturation on every image... etc etc. As for routine I try to start the day of with painting, even before breakfast, that helps me a lot with not fapping all day long. Try to paint stuff you think is too hard for your skill level and don't stop even if it looks terrible at first. You will be surprised at what you can do if you just don't give up on a painting.

I think if we start to nitpick with the submissions the whole challenge system becomes kinda unfair. Like I've said previously, the prestige system hasn't been flawless and a lot has gone unexplained, but I'll try to clarify the details of this more in the future and on the site itself.
With that being said, challenge creators should really focus on making the inherent difficulty of the challenge independent of the artists' skill level.

Not in particular. It affects the appearance of the badge:

> 1: Bronze
> 2: Silver
> 3: Gold
> 4: Platinum
> 5: Diamond

Revised appearances for the badges is coming in Patch 1.0, so that these visual differences are a lot more meaningful.

Bear in mind that the seasonal challenge and DAD challenge dispense level 4 and 5 badges, but this is considered relatively lenient.

we're all a product of how we use our time. someone who draws all day is probably worse at social skills, video games etc. its literally just a craft.
If someone is better than you, they likely fall into one of 3 categories.
1. They have been drawing longer than you (total accumulation of hours)
2. They have been drawing the same amount of time as you (doubtful) but a higher % of their time toward the study and application of fundamentals.
3. they are actually worse than you but utilize tools to push past their mistakes better. (think illustrators shooting lighting ref or using a ton of photoreference to compose an image, people who work on images for weeks).

I had a weird dream today.

I was in front of a big crowd on a basketball field. I promised a fair princess in the crowd to throw a ball into a basket 20 out 20 times.
It went horribly. My arms were cramped and I couldn't even throw my ball hard enough to reach the basket. First few times were simply awful, it was obvious that I've failed the challenge. I thought "Well, if I started this, I can as well finish it" and I resumed throwing.

For my defence, Sun is good enough to do commissions and that, IMO, makes him better than me. Ornitorrinco is very stylized so it was hard to judge and I wasn't sure in which tier he should end up. Vusta have studied his anatomy, and it shows (like here: https://dad.gallery/submissions/2031 ).

Meru on the other hand often have problems with hands and anatomy ( https://dad.gallery/submissions/2102 ) and his observational drawing skills are lacking, so I felt that he was closer to me in skill level.


I remember seeing somewhere a tool to judge episodes of a show: you had to compare only two episodes at a time and, based on that info from many voters, it would generate ranking.
We could use that to make a more objective list (by comparing artists instead of episodes), but I can't find that tool.
