I've been getting back into art recently, so i gotta ask: what the fuck has happened to LAS and the site?
Around the time I left Lava's presence seemed a bit fucky, and it looked like he was on the verge of bailing. That was fucking ages ago.

Lava literally died around October 2016 and the site dissolved sometime in 2017. Another member here called W decided to recreate the site and call it Draw Every Day, but he gave no fucks about us and closed the site leaving us stranded for months. Now the1banana has made another site this time called Do Art Daily and it was open just a month ago and so far it's been great with lots of updated happening.

There was some shit with W, he had a site called DED that replaced the week system with a streak system, but he kept shutting it down without any warning which displaced a lot of users, basically to sum it all up he's a colossal faggot.
There was another site called las2.esy.es that's extremely barebones, hardly anyone used it, it's probably still running somewhere.
Banana recently setup DAD with the help of nicnac and fluffy, it has badgers, and streaks, and it's gotten the most amount of activity for a LAS website since Lava died, it's the current go-to (see OP) and Banana's active in the threads and updating the website.

Sorry to ask this, but could you keep an eye out?

Some people have reported excess submission latency, meaning: submissions are being timestamped between 2-5 minutes after they have been ACTUALLY submitted (compared to what the timer says on the submission page). As such, someone was wrongfully elimnated when they should not have, as they cut it a little close to the 23:59 mark (submission reportedly made at 23:58), but being timestamped as 00:03. Oddly enough, this isn't a latency issue, as the submitter saw the previous days' eliminations on the home page AFTER submitting, but something got fucked with the timestamp.

I attempted to reproduce this, and failed to do so (side note, ignore all submissions from "Banana's Test User"). I don't know the cause of this, and it's definitely going to take some time to find out why it's happening.

If you notice any of the following behaviors or something related to them:
> home or submission page timer displaying an inaccurate time after being open for an extended period of time (use your computer to compare to it)
> the timestamp of your submission not matching within 1 minute of the time you hit the submit button
> excess loading time before your submission goes through, resulting in a significantly increased timestamp
> your submission not appearing under "Today's Submissions" for some reason

This is just an external point of view but by "appeal" i mean talking to one's sens. If you aim is to make the viewer hungry for a bodypart, go for it all the way (check some good food photography, you know this one which make you drool). For the rest of the image you can make the position suggestive, work on a particular gesture or a glance that serve your narrative, but don't forget your focus point.
Also this suggestion >>3399800 and texture might be important in your case. Hidding a part with fabric can also talk to your sens, think about the contact between this fabric and the skin, and what you want to evok (is it smooth? gooey? itchy?...)

Just got back from lunch. Gonna get some exercise then attend to some of the more wonky aspects of the UI you guys talked about worked out.

Two ?s:
1. Has anyone experienced anything related to my previous post in this thread?
2. Editing/deleting submissions is coming, but I'm having trouble coming up with concrete decisions on certain things. I'll dive into that in more detail here:

The current scheme I envision is as follows:
1) Editing a submission's description (description coming soon) and content level can be made at any point.
2) Editing what challenges a submission can be submitted to will be limited to the day the submission was made (i.e., if you forgot to attach something to a particular challenge, you have until the rollover to fix that). I can consider extending this time, but that can result in some annoying technical logistics that essentially make up for what is ultimately user error (kind of equivalent to forgetting to submit).
3) Changing the submission file itself... I'm not sure what time period to limit this to. Given my general disposition towards "if you're cheating the system, you're not really gaining anything to begin with", I'm leaning towards allowing users to allow them to edit their submissions indefinitely. I can also see arguments for a week after submission, to a day after submission, to simply before the rollover time. I'm not sure how you guys feel about it.

Those concerns also extend to deletion. You can game the system by submitting garbage near 23:59 then immediately deleting it after rollover cover your tracks. But again, if you're going to that much trouble, what do you really gain from that? It definitely is a bigger issue if someone did that to preserve a big streak. Of course, deletion is necessary in the cases of inexplicable double posted gifs or errant submissions.

These are things that merit discussion. Before I post a strawpoll here and on the news page, I'd like to hear your thoughts. I'll read them on my return.

Personally I don't see the purpose of editing/deleting submissions after the deadline. Aside from hiding your weaker drawings and artificially boosting your image, or as you said, gaming the system. Having it set in stone post deadline is decent motivator to maybe try a little harder if you can manage it before submitting, and regretting an off submission is motivation to up your game/plan better in the future, at least idealistically.

Any time before is fine since it's technically the same day so if you decided to tweak or take your submission further, or draw something else entirely that you're happier with, it's still in the spirit of LAS.

Thoughts on a site where we have a risk-style world map where you get to take territories based on art you submit and how many hours you spent drawing? You would have to say how long you spent yourself and the hours would be possible to challenge like in the old tribunal to null the land you've seized if nobody agrees on the hours you spent.

Could go in seasons / games, meaning the board could empty every so often.
Tried setting it up and it was very doable. Could be fun - kind of similar to the las houses thing the discord is doing. Could be possible to set up clans / houses instead of playing solo too.

In the end we're all culpable for what we get out of this ourselves, nothing can be carried out of this site but what we bring to it.
I think we should have plenty of freedom to be able to freely delete whatever we submit. I think each user should be able to use and access the site in whatever way feels most suited to how they're best looking to accomplish their needs. Also if a user makes something they're really proud of, or works on a portfolio piece that they need to use elsewhere but wants to use as a clean image unassociated with 4chan, especially if the mod's some day no longer around, i think they should absolutely have the right to remove their own work.
To be honest, this is my biggest concern with submitting work to d.a.d., that i'm rendering it less useful in a professional, practical, sense whenever I don't hold it back since I might never be able to take that action back. so if i could ever vote on most hoped for feature it'd be giving us right to delete.
