What gets me about this one is the pose
the legs specifically
how do you think his feet are placed below the panel? it's like his legs are posed as if he's skiing...knees bent and such
How does one overlook this?
or suppose his legs aren't bent, is he standing on his heels? legs stretched out way in front? it doesn't work.

>> No.3254267

It takes most than just good artwork to work in the industry.

Otherwise we wouldn't have people like Liefield or Greg Land.

If you are shocked they are taken seriously, then your skills in actually networking, working for companies / business skills etc needs to be worked on and your perception on commercially viable art be shattered.

I unironically still love ZUN and ryukishi art desu. I think it describes the character's emotion and design well enough for the job, and when my friend told me that my comic art was just as good as ZUN's, i took it as a compliment at the time. id probably still be aiming to draw like them, but, not drawing well doesnt gain views. Honestly, i think the art world has a stick up their ass and are too retarded to see the charm in these. These hands are fucking kawaii, and ive never seen anyone hands like ryukishi

It doesn't bring me comfort that shit people are getting work. I get much more out of seeing someone be shit, work hard and becoming really good, getting work etc. It's kind of short sighted to compare yourself to people who are as good/worse than you. You won't get anywhere with a mindset like that.

>>3254266
>>3254287
>>3256720

I don't think Lifelds work is good. I hate his stuff actually but comics are all about storytelling and selling an idea instead doing 100% anatomically correct characters. When I was a kid in the early 90's I thought his stuff was totally bad ass. Like "Ooh! Look at all those muscles and chains and spikes and guns!!! SO BAD ASS!". I was the audience and I really enjoyed his work so I don't think his work was a complete failure in that sense.

Obviously now that I'm older and understand some shit about character design, anatomy and a e s t h e t i c s so his stuff looks fucking horrible to me but I'm not going to go out and say that what he achieved in his career was easy. It was right for the time.

There are loads of artists who produce shit work but are extremely successful like "Draw with Jazza" but even he is providing content that has value to a lot of up and coming artists.

There's hundreds of mediocre artists getting work in the comics industry. It's no secret Marvel/DC are full of talentless hacks, it doesn't stop there.
I could enter a library here in Belgium and find dozens of shitty comics on sale. In fact, I did, while looking for christmas presents. It is baffling how low the bar is set. There's great comics still being made of course, but also (and more noticeably) dozen of generic, soulless tumblr style comics that are put next to classics like Moebius, Franquin, Herge... And people eat that shit up, because it's fantasy or something. Because people have no standards, or don't appreciate a well drawn or stylized comic. Maybe they're ignorant and don't know there's better stuff out there, or are to lazy or not passionate enough to search. Maybe they don't care and just want to turn their brains off in front of whatever looks like a comic. After all, if it looks competent enough, it can only be good, right? It's art. It's... There.
If you want to blame people for bad comics, blame these consumers. But at the same time, you can also thank them for keeping the industry alive.
