it's mostly subjective but his work speaks to me in a way that no other artist can. work like his can only be inspired from his experiences (growing up during ww2) and cant just be made up.

he's able to capture a multitude of emotions but none better than despair. his art is everything surrealists should try to achieve.

This is the major difference between old /ic/ and new /ic/ as well as declining boards in general. It explains why this board continues to hit new lows of cancer even when it seemed to hit rock bottom years ago.

The culture of lurking before posting is not there to foster a secret-society-only-for-initiates mentality (not exclusively at least) but it performs a more vital function than that: discouraging newfags from starting worthless threads, from posting shit opinions and above all from affecting the board culture (inevitably for the worse). "Lurk more, faggot" is the immune response that prevents board cancer from metastizing and leading to board death. Newfags will join and make shit threads that will in turn be copied by the next wave of newfags.

Of course none of this matters anymore, since the damage already done is irreversible but these are all things you would know if you weren't a non-lurking newfag.

Regardless of whether you personally like it or not, this is the difference between the old /ic/ and current /ic/ and chans in general. There's a distinct personality-type that comes to a board, acts entitled and expects to be spoonfed about every little thing. 100% of posts about "not going to make it", "Bridgman/Vilppu/Hogarth is shit (because I don't understand them)" and sour grapes artist drama are made by this type of poster.

What you're essentially saying is that since the board was full of shitty posts/threads when you got here this should be the norm, and since you felt no need to assimilate to a board culture no one else should either. However lurk before posting is an antiquated attitude at this point and I don't expect it to ever return.
