You're not too good for Loomis. Just study him. If he doesn't click for you then study someone else.

Try Bridgman for anatomy my man. I just started but I feel like it's helping me more than Loomis. Everyone has their own personal learning style so try experimenting with instructors, it doesn't have to be strictly Loomis or Bridgman.

You're never too good for Loomis. There's always more to learn each time. You could learn how he does composition in the book. You can learn how he writes. You can learn all of his habits. You can become Loomis.

This. Also there's more than just one Loomis book, he covers all types of stuff from basic construction to anatomy to composition and even some basic perspective.

Are there any high quality scans of loomis figure drawing?

>> No.2898161

Loomis puts me to sleep. I know it's not supposed to be easy but I at least need a little bit of brain stimulation. Who should I study instead?

just draw, retard. you're lazy/depressed/don't actually want to draw and are just trying to come up with excuses

also tl;dr for loomis/constructionism:
>everything is made of basic forms
>shapes/3d shapes/irregular forms defined by curvature and bounding shapes are all forms
>you can draw anything by assembling forms
>look at shit and try to figure it out then recreate it through construction
>once you start to build a visual vocabulary you can construct from imagination
>perspective of complex forms can be found out by inscribing them into simpler forms
>use references

then once you start drawing you'll slowly improve and also slowly realize what specific skills you need, then you google those and figure it out

Also Loomis is a meme. Don't actually read his books, just skim them and look at his techniques/do the exercises. Bert Dodson and Vilppu are probably just as good (and you should use the same strategies to learn from them).

The only way to get better at drawing is to draw.

Considering Loomis is recommended due to being a comprehensive starter on the fundamentals and construction, nobody is too good for him. You should always reinforce your fundies.

I make a living with art and i still go back to loomis (and bridgeman, vilppu, scott robertson etc) to brush up and review.

get your head out of your ass. youre not special or too good for jack shit.
