>> No.1745886

The anatomy is pretty week, especially the white chick. Your skin tones are all really local and boring. The drapery folds don't make sense. The narrative is a mix of trite and confusing. A puppet president with strings seems like an edgy 14 year old's concept about muh illuminati after he read 1984. Then there's a random white lady, a pile of money, and a man holding a fig newton. I get that this is a reference to les demoiselles de avignon by Picasso, but what is the significance of the reference? And in Picasso's painting, the abstraction of the figure is extreme enough to look intentional, here it just looks wonky.

Tl;dr

Looks like you're going for something like modern cubism.
I recommend stronger, clearer shapes, and bolder colors. The white spaces sort of make your work seem incomplete, and some of your marks look smudgy.

Also, your symbol drawing eyes, and not in a way that complements your style. Try removing them altogether, and represent the space with the shadow of the brow.

Aside from that, do some studies of cloth. Look at how folds reflect light and cast shadows.

Regardless of you're skill level you're extremely arrogant and I'm afraid you lack the skill to back that up. You'll probably bury that in a mountain of "muh style" and "yeah well all the greats were heavily criticized too!" but I'm afraid you aren't one of them.
Your work is catastrophically derivative in any sense of the word. Conceptually, you play on the same edgy "GOVERNMENT IS PUPPETS SECRET SOCIETIES CONTROL EVERYTHING MONEY IS EVIL CAPITALISM IS EVIL" bullshit that every stoner teenager thinks is cool for 2 years. I don't entirely disagree with the ideology/many people don't, but over the age of 18 people realize that images of it are overdone, cliche, trite, and frankly they display a sense of naivete and immaturity. Yes money is evil, yes capitalism spawns inequality and destitution within some ranks, its a thing that most people know and acknowledge and having some kid shove it in their face with his paintings just garners a "yeah dude thats real cool" from them.

Stylistically, its pretty much picasso but without most of the stuff that made picasso interesting. The paintings look washed out and dull and flat. It looks like you used white to define values too much and it got washed into all the other colors making them look pale and weak. There is almost no contrast, nothing to catch the eye and make it travel around or become transfixed in any part of the works.

firstly ... you're not going to be taken very seriously as an artist (or person) if you use any more illerminerty symbolism

more importantly try not to make the symbolism in your artwork so directly obvious, its like im being force fed what you're trying to say through a shallow illustrated instruction manual... instead leave more space for interpretation and rather than trying to make an obviously concise statement, consider hinting at things that makes the viewer question something about their understanding of or feelings towards something

Absolutely concur, i'm obsessed with the guy. I'm just extremely disillusioned with where art is going at the moment (see: The Mona Lisa Curse), and feel as though it should go back to basics in order for it to be dramatically reinvented once again. I realize my ideas are very basic, and have been produced endlessly. Saying i've got a hell of a long way to go is an understatement, but I really do just enjoy having a crack at oil painting. Selling is just an added bonus, obviously i'd prefer to execute better ideas, and develop a unique style etc. hopefully this can occur in time.

>> No.1749602

>>1749591
you actually think the symbolism in that artwork is more directly obvious and more force feeding than OPs screaming faces, rows of office blocks, chess piece people, and puppet strings?

Do you see a concise statement in the artwork I posted? If so, what?

The imagery in the artwork I posted makes me feel uncomfortable, its unclear whether the man is intruding or escaping making me curious about the situation. Despite the windows(?) being broken the black void outside creates claustrophobic feeling. What is the outside space? Why does the figure going through broken glass look so collected? The figure is in a state of vulnerability (no clothes, awkward position, broken glass around him) yet I still feel like the figure on the right is more of a victim... etc etc

The artwork feels like it has more depth to it and more of a lasting effect on me.

OPs artwork however, any 14 year old can fully understand exactly what OP is bluntly and unconvincingly trying to say about 5 seconds

I guess I don't understand revisiting cubism. It's sort of irrelevant now. Cubism was a reaction to modernism and dynamism, trying to comprehend reality and dimensionality alongside the invention of the moving picture. It's sort of like new "punk" bands. Punk was something that happened and died, it was a reaction to everything leading up to it starting from WW2. New bands can mimic it nicely, but it's really just a watered down version of what it actually meant.

You make money out of it and that's great, if you enjoy it that's even better, but don't come here expecting praise, subsequently after getting some negative responses stubbornly defend your stuff. If you are fine with your art why listen to us, why try to prove you are good, it just makes you seem diffident, not confidant about your art.

no wonder he's so defensive about the whole thing. I'd be pissed if my stupidity cost me a ton of money too.

His painting is horrible too.
Horrible, dull colors and HORRIBLE composition.

I've seen better 'art' in elementary schools.

Worst pro painter I've ever seen, honestly.

Another bump, wow. It's like $0.50 a month to list a painting at that price. That WetCanvas thread was about the aforementioned 'Inglorious' 9/11 piece I completed in 2009, and sold in the same year which is why it's no longer listed in my store. All I have left are the paintings i've completed over the past year.

I now understand why you guys are so harsh.

Are you dense? The OP painting was completed like two weeks ago. That 2009 thread was about my piece 'Inglorious' which was completed and sold in the same year. The one with the twin towers.

My 11-year-old nice could paint better than that.
You are so fucking bad it hurts. You think some schmucks buying your garbage is something to be proud of? That's like being proud of scamming an 80-year-old women by claiming you are her grandson.
