I have the same problem as you. Have no variation and it becomes boring. Add too much, and your lineart will look weird, wavy and amateurish as fuck.
The way I do it to avoid this is to first lineart with a brush with very few variation to some key points, then I go over the lines again, this time adding more wight and variation to some specific lines. Might help you
Also, try to avoid to use a very "clean" brush like I did in this pic. This will make your drawing look too digital, you want to have some texture and small faults in your brush and lines so it'll have a more organic feel to it.
