I used to avoid hands and feet in my figure drawings, it took me a few weeks of studying feet until I got competent at them, for hands it took me longer (I'm still struggling with them). Now though all my figure drawings include feet and hands and I actually enjoy drawing them.
Just keep practicing anon, the gains will come eventually.
