I like your start, you've added the highlights which is good. But I think you should break down the values in your reference again.

Your darks should be much darker and lights much lighter, I've done a redline over your reference to illustrate what I mean more.

A good tip I find is to convert your reference to greyscale to understand what your values should be and where. I also personally find 3d models to be bad for reference drawing/painting, as their form can be wonky, but that's just me.
