i'm pretty surprised at how well the discussion is going in this thread, good points being made.

Arbitration, not lawsuits, were brought by users (arbitration which Patreon can win, despite having to pay fees upfront). The new TOS was created specifically (and unethically) to make arbitration a breach of TOS and disallowed. However, everyone who stopped using Patreon before January hasn't agreed to the new TOS, and can still file for arbitration based on previous grievances, which now seem to include "tortious interference" via disrupting patrons ability to access a cancelled account. That could apply to a lot of disgruntled users, and I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of former users do this to watch the platform burn.

Also, whoever said that this will mean other companies strengthen their TOS agreements is most likely correct.

On a slightly different note, this is a very good business opportunity for anyone who wants to start up a Patreon alternative, especially since a lot of the major pitfalls of a site like this have been, shall we say, showcased.
