Have you ever noticed that informational, high-quality posts on 4chan tend to be ignored? Every shitposter on 4chan eventually learns that the best way to go fishing for (You)s is to pique their audience emotionally, and humor and indignation are two of the strongest emotions out there. This is why a retarded, mildly controversial shitpost with a kernal of quippy insight will garner a tidal wave of (You)s whereas a reserved, well-crafted and thought-provoking effortpost goes unreplied. It's the equivalent of a comedian doing a stand-up improv routine vs. a university professor giving a dry lecture. The university professor is probably more correct, and certainly put more reasoned effort into his material, but the comedian is just more likely to accrue reaction simply by nature of his medium.

To de-obfuscate this metaphor, this exact same principle applies to art. Your art is probably good, and can probably be identified by both professionals and laymen alike as being of high quality, it's just not STIMULATING enough to warrant actual reactions from people. It's very likely that people are driving by your images, giving them a quick once-over, nodding to themselves in satisfaction, then moving on their way.

If you want normalfags on social media to recognize your art, you need to take the step BEYOND technical quality and into emotional appeal. Create art that relates to people. Or don't. Create something controversial, that fires up people's reactionary indignation. Or just do something kind of witty and amusing, something that makes people laugh. You don't even have to make this your sole commodity, make it a supplement to your professional work. But no one is going to feel inclined to appraise your work unless it is capable of emotionally connecting with them. This is why people like fanart--it has recognition, which is CONNECTION, whereas some technically skilled but otherwise irrelevant portrait of your OCs if just banality, white noise.
