People were continually critiquing the texture of the skin which was an effect I was intentionally aiming for. I wasn't trying to make it beautifully blended, I wanted it to look in a way ugly.

Here's day two on my current selfportrait. If you can do better please do post. I'm vaguely thinking about dutch golden age portraits and that's what my color palette is roughly based on. An underpainting in umber, cool neutral greens for cool areas, and warm highlights.
