I found gesture drawing very hard, and the reason was because I was trying to be very accurate with each line. But that isn't the point of gesture sketches, the point is to understand the flow (yes?), and the more simpistic the more understandable the sketch is. Hence why pic related (some guy from the last thread) looks good, but more busy, complex sketches look bad.

Is practicing the flow from a reference basically useless if i'm redrawing that reference? I can see why it is very useful when coming up with my own drawings.

Should I be doing separate reference and gesture/flow practices every day, or does the former include the latter?

Pretty nice, though atm you can hardly see anything, might be because you're not finished yet, but push the values more.
Also it's getting very wide around the eye-level, especially the ears come out to the side like wings, more so than they're sitting behind and going back into space.
