The way you shade makes it look flat, try to follow the form

"Feel the form" is actually legit advice it's just never explained well. When you understand it, it's like, "Oh, yes, FEEL the FORM. I get it!! How could I have been so blind!"

It just means making your brush strokes / pencil lines go along with the 3D form instead of flattening it out into a blob, because part of what makes that 3D feel is the direction of your strokes.
