Huh? What stuff of mine have you read? I don't think I've ever written anything creatively and submitted it online.

No. It's not.
This is legitimately something I needed to urgently account for.
I'll talk about it in more detail when I done; I might just skip exercising today, maybe go to bed a little later than usual and try to handle the second step of this process now so that I can spend the next 2 days on a dad.zone submission, since I actually really wanted to do that.

From this point forward, I've chosen to dedicate all my time from this point forward on 70% site dev, 20% collaboration with Finlay, and maybe 10% recreational reading / other supplemental learning because that's something I've neglected in my life in general.
I'm not putting a particular date on this for the time being, this was a mistake I've made several times. I'm horribly bad at estimating the amount of time I can reasonably commit to tasks, or the amount of time required to execute certain tasks. The goal is end of January, with an absolute fact being it should come before DAD's anniversary on April 2nd. The only consistent guarantee is that I'm not returning to drawing until I complete this.

I'm currently in the process of revising my production process (Cloud9 is growing increasingly inconvenient for development), and performing some cleanup of the staging environment so it's actually usable. This is something that has caused me a fair bit of frustration in the past, simply because I didn't have any alternatives that I knew how to use.

To that end, I have something very important for you to discuss. I remember my well-forgotten dev board, and now it's time to bring it back:
https://trello.com/b/MCPk8MIg/dad-dev-board
This is where I need your help. There were plenty of things that were wanted for this 2.0 version of the site. There's scattered all over random notes on my person, my desk and on computer files.
I want to have one place for them, so if there's any quality of life improvement, bug fix, or new feature you'd like (TRIBUNAL, YES I KNOW), I'll at least document it here so that all my ducks are finally in a row. That means even on things I might have previously acknowledged as "yeah, I'm doing that for 2.0", PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS POST with them and I'll have them written up on this dev board.

Sorry for the delays, and all.

Apologies. I thought I could push some of the new features requested, but it would appear that the implementation for them caused catastrophic performance problems to the site as a whole. I have reverted the patch, and will continue working on these updates later.
Sincere apologies for the inconvenience.

this is my debt to pay back to Lava and LAS

It would appear that Heroku had a bit of a hiccup. I cannot identify the reason for that temporary outage. Must be the 0.006% downtime side of their 99.994% uptime claims.

Apologies for the inconvenience. It appears as though we're back online.

On the topic of lesson plan based challenges:

I made this clear in the rules (but who the fuck reads the rules anyway), but the important part of the policy set in place is that the material used must be free or public domain material. If it is paid material, we have a problem as it encourages offsite distribution of the material, or it compels the more OCD / completionist members of DAD to buy resources they normally would not have.

I'm not passing judgment on anyone who pirates anything (who can, really, at this point), but for the sake of the DAD site itself keeping its nose clean, keep this sort of stuff to the threads / discords. DAB was permitted because it was a free online resource.

That being said, there is absolutely nothing stopping you from creating a challenge about grinding / studying specific subject matter. So long as the challenge itself is not associated with a specific paid resource... we're all good.

>>3861221

Oh, fucking hell, this reminds me that I owe you guys content-filtered challenge options and an site-official dragon dick badge. That's coming sooner than you think.

P-please don't lewd the banana waifu.

We are split halfway on the tribunal thing. I will admit that I'm a bit bent on what to do here.
I'll mull things over before starting some dev tonight.

A minor change has been pushed to the site.

A typo was fixed, a security issue was attended to, along with some bugs.
More importantly, the file limit has been increased to 10.0 MB. This is not necessarily permanent, and I will keep an eye on how this affect site performance and S3 hosting costs.

Please note: if you ever run into a security-related bug or exploit, PLEASE send a private message over Discord (or by email), do not post it in the threads or the discord channel.

Now, if you'll excuse me, someone is currently kissing my neck while fucking me up the ass without my consent, after forcing me to eat some disgusting pineapple pizza, which I begrudgingly ate since he had the patience to listen to me vent about some emotional problems. This is both confusing and highly unpleasant.

I disagree, to some extent.
I've already had several artists quit silently (manual account purge) because of the site's affiliation with 4chan. In fact, I actually abstained from giving my Github to recruiters due to that (and some revision history that had some extremely low-confidence comments in the news section of the site).
Regardless, people will find out that fact. And in the worst situation, a well known pro will learn this fact, take to Twitter, condemn it, and I might have mess of people raiding, DDoS-ing and/or generally fucking with the site in the name of some misplaced self-righteousness.

Minor update pushed. I would've had more features tacked onto this, but I haven't had the time and the annoying formatting issue is pressing enough to merit immediate resolution.

Accordingly to some metrics, we've been having memory usage problems, resulting in slower response time, so a good chunk of my time will be dedicated to looking into that.

Also, in the interest of having a SINGLE place to talk about existing and upcoming site features, bugs in the website, and general user experience, I was thinking about opening a generic forum for anyone who wants to get involved in the discussion (so that I don't have to jump between the email, two discords and 4chan). Anyone have any recommendations of what forum-making sites are best for this? It can be pretty barebones.

Good luck this autumn.

Sorry to ask this, but could you keep an eye out?

Some people have reported excess submission latency, meaning: submissions are being timestamped between 2-5 minutes after they have been ACTUALLY submitted (compared to what the timer says on the submission page). As such, someone was wrongfully elimnated when they should not have, as they cut it a little close to the 23:59 mark (submission reportedly made at 23:58), but being timestamped as 00:03. Oddly enough, this isn't a latency issue, as the submitter saw the previous days' eliminations on the home page AFTER submitting, but something got fucked with the timestamp.

I attempted to reproduce this, and failed to do so (side note, ignore all submissions from "Banana's Test User"). I don't know the cause of this, and it's definitely going to take some time to find out why it's happening.

If you notice any of the following behaviors or something related to them:
> home or submission page timer displaying an inaccurate time after being open for an extended period of time (use your computer to compare to it)
> the timestamp of your submission not matching within 1 minute of the time you hit the submit button
> excess loading time before your submission goes through, resulting in a significantly increased timestamp
> your submission not appearing under "Today's Submissions" for some reason

Please report it ASAP in this thread or to me by email. Thanks a lot for your help.

I'm still sick, but I'm gonna work through it to get the submissions working by the new deadline.

I have no interest in delaying it any further and will do everything in my power to ensure that doesn't happen.

Any small hotfixes that occur during this time I will notify you guys here, and in the discord. As usual, if any issues come up, contact me in the discord or by the site's email.

Lastly, please remember to put the DAD link in the sticky next time.

We (the1banana and NicNac) decided to ditch w's stuff for a variety of reasons, some of which include the fact that php is generally recommended against nowadays and because the old github code NicNac acquired represents a really old build.

So we're starting from scratch, which gives us more control in designing the structure, a sense of direction and an immediate understanding of the inner workings. The goal is a working (though super-rough prototype) at the end of Sunday.

We'll have a shell website up sometime soon that will show you a progress bar of sorts. It will indicate what's complete and what still needs doing.

Sorry for the delay! We're doing our best; I want this website to be the permanent, final iteration of LAS. No more parental abandoning. You now have two parents who love you very much.

In the meantime, we thought it would be fitting to have you guys decide the name for the third iteration of LAS.

But if you have experience doing this sort of thing, you could probably be trusted more than I can.
