>you guys don't know what it's like to need money bad enough to outright steal from people by agreeing to perform a service you know in advance you won't be able to perform in a timely manner, if at all, and completely exploit a person's misplaced trust in the process.

You're right, I don't and probably a lot of us don't to be honest. If you didn't charge enough that's YOUR fault, not your clients'. Your client has no idea what kind of hole you've dug yourself when they first contact you.

This is why it's always suggested to charge a healthy amount even if your skill level isn't the best (if you're too bad to expect attracting anywhere near a decent amount for your work than you should be grinding fundamentals and improving instead of pretending to be a commercial artist while working the equivalent of $3 an hour).

My advice would be to get a real job dude, maybe this isn't for you. Finish your commissions on the side.

With the previous iterations of the thread I'd inserted some Original the Characters® to help frame a series of alternative character drawing choices and I'm planning on doing more or less the same for the next model, except this time I'll be including some voluntary drawing challenges to serve as practice ideas as well.
