I'm getting fed up /asg/. Everytime I do a study I'm all happy and confident. But when I do a fun sketch I'm ok until I start to push/clean it up. Then I notice flurries of mistakes.
>Eyes aren't aligned
>spend an hour trying to get headshape correct
>hair isnt as gesturial, too flat
>this isnt correct
>neither is this
>etc.
>this pose is boring 3/4, do something more exciting
It gets really annoying and burns me out whenever I try to finish something. Maybe I should stop doing imagination stuff and go back to only studying, because it seems like I can't handle it right now. What a bummer.

>get a crit in a thread
>get ripped apart (no crab shit, but true honest critique)
>feel like complete shit, just want to scrap the picture and give up on it
>the fear that I have to go back and grind loomis, boxes, other boring shit
>know that I'll never truly have fun because I'm still so /beg/ that my journey requires me to mind-numbingly grind to get to a level where I can have fun
i just wanna fucking stop, but i don't want too.

i hate this so much. what do i do?

>speaking to my japanese artist friends
>ask them about shit like gesture drawing, etc.
>ask "did you guys ever use any books or draw from life?"
>"no no. what is gesture drawing?"
>these guys made it despite not being bogged down by the pressure of grinding and only draw what they love
>only advice they could give me was "copy drawings"
>look at their old pictures
>the pictures actually suck, but the more I go towards recent ones I see huge improvement
what the fuck am i doing then? am i wasting time grinding figures when I could be copying pictures and drawing what i like? these dudes have been at it for YEARS and have huge followings and their art is decent. And I'm still over here doing boring ass figure practice for 3 years with nothing to show. Holy shit I feel like time just got wasted FAST

what the fuck is their secret?
