Ha! Art schools continue to be shit. Why teach a student anything, when they can just pump out the slop with AI? Art Schools sucking dick and only teaching talentless hacks is old new, even Richard Williams commented on it.
You'd be better served just spending the money on some art books, some materials, and learning yourself.

It's more like don't lump me with the same group of people by calling me an Artist, quite frankly it's embarrassing.

I don't have images saved, nor can I think of a good example, but you guys know art styles that are purposely ugly? Everyone will have pimples and look overtly hideous, everything is drawn in an unappealing gross way. Like a more unappealing Beavis and Butthead.

That, and modern fine-art.

So all anime then?

Yes, the "cal-arts", bean-head, style. It was so overdone in such a short time.

Dunno. Everyone in the 20th century seemingly tried to throw away the old knowledge of the craft, simultaneously. In Music, they did away with ThoroughBass, which was how every composer since the 1500's has learned to compose music, and they came up with Roman Numeral Analysis and atonality. In writing, people did away with Aristotle and stopped teaching how to write scenes and build dramatic interest in the characters. Instead, writing professors just told people to write with "muh feelings"

In all fields, it was again the avant garde that brought back the knowledge of the Old Masters. That would be Feitelson and Vilppu for drawing, Jazz musicians for Music, and Syd Field / Robert McKee for writing.

I won't go so far as to say it was a psyop... but...

I assume you're only talking about 2D animation in this post? 'cause shit like Arcane is visually impressive.
I feel all the talent was drained into the 3D industry and much of the knowledge was lost in the process. Pic related (book dates from 2001)
