Pic related encapsulates everything i was thinking. Everything is too literal and drawn so straight forward. It's just an outline of all the sections of the body with color and shading. Even if the proportions were correct and there was no chicken scratch among other things this feature would still remain. That seems to be what all bad art (DeviantArt) has in common even stuff that's above this. Obviously there are other factors but I think that this is a defining one. Maybe this is why we're told to draw from real life. So we can understand not to try and draw so literally.
