That's not a good argument. He sells so he must be good. All that proves is that there are people dumb enough to buy his work. Doesn't make it quality. I'm sure the people who invest in his work don't know art, or have limited understanding.

Also, attached is work of my favorite artist, a black outsider by the name of William H. Johnson. I love his art and art like his. He is my primary inspiration and we even paint the same. If my goal is to make art influenced by him, why can't I paint how I wanna? Why should I incorporate a shit load of technique that I don't even like?
