Is it worth getting better?

At my current skill level, a lot of people enjoy my drawings, enough are willing to pay for it and I enjoy doing them for the most part for the simple fun of drawing. But when I look at them, I know they are not my best, I know I can get better if I apply myself and try to get better.
But, is it even worth it? Will I be happier with my art if I study to get better? What do I truly have to gain from this?

I want to ask the opinion of artists who used to be hacks who only polish turds for show like me, but started to get serious and actually got gud. Was it worth it? Did get better improve your experience as an artist?
