tips for maintaining a disciplined drawing routine/schedule? once in awhile I get too depressed to do anything but sleep and i'll waste a whole day doing nothing, let alone drawing.

No it isn't, breaking down and understanding what and why and artists does something rather than just copying it down is actually learning. What does drawing over a pic to the T. teach you?

I think there's hope as long as anons like the one who made pic related post here. Although I think getting good implies leaving this crab bucket. Like it's a consequence. I started lurking and posting on /ic/ almost two years ago and it is already very noticeable that the ones who are/become competent eventually get tired of this place.
Drunk rant. Sorry.
>>4649967
Yeah, but >>4649963 is right. To get better you have to draw. Keep walking. Drawing's not something you can learn by watching tutorials, you have to use the fucking pencil. You have the means, you have the sticky, you have the video course thread and the artbook thread. You can't expect to have everything spoonfed into your ngmi mouth.

>one year of learning and is already popping off like a prodigy
>it increases your drawing skill greatly if you train your eye
You don't train the 'eye' you train your brain. Hand eye coordination isn't training the hand or the eye. It's muscle MEMORY. Getting visual aide and indicators for where bodyparts lie is all mental. Getting used to grasping your pen/brush and relying on the wrist or shoulder is mental. Saying, looking and studying from another screen is better because it's 'training your eye' is more than vague, it's incorrect. Especially when understanding how other artists draw it's helpful.
