This time it's easy to iterate on, though. You got the model, whether it's a photo, a drawing or your own left hand. You got the drawing. You can compare the two and find the differences. Then you can try to avoid those mistakes next time.

I want to say that I think this community has grown quite a lot over the past year. I remember when almost nobody would make challenges, like people were too scared to take the initiative, but just a year later we have challenges up the ass. People have also been a lot more vocal as well since comment notifications became a thing. I hope banana can open the registration up again soon, I really don't think we should let one obsessive person ruin everything for everyone, we really shouldn't let them have that kind of power over the site. I don't know how to run a website or know what all goes into it, so I don't know if there are any better ways to handle this situation. I get that people can still sign up by contacting banana but most people on this site aren't the type of people to take that kind of initiative.

im not especially anal about filesizes but "detail" is not a good enough justification for 99% of the stuff thats posted with like 4000x4000px canvases

Alright I'm gonna say it, I'm disappointed at how some dads have been handling this whole thing. The more notoriety you get the more people are going to talk shit about your art whether it's justifiable or not. If you can't handle a guy with next to no follows then what's gonna happen when someone with actual followers criticizes your work? I know it's hard when someone shows your art in a bad light, especially when they have no idea what they're talking about, but it's one of the things you have to learn to deal with as an artist. Keep working and ignore outside distractions.
