-1: learn perspective, construction and drawing from reference
0: have sex
1. find artist or reference photo you like
2. download their art
3. trace the reference by constructing on top of their art on a new layer, taking notes of proportions and trying to understand why things bend and look certain ways
4. put the reference to the side, grab a new canvas and try re-constructing the reference again as closely and as properly as possible
5. hide the reference and your previous drawings and do it all over again a third time, this time from memory
6. if it looks bad, take note of your weaknesses and repeat steps 3-5 again. otherwise, move on to a new reference
7. once you start getting comfortable, try being flexible with your references and take your own liberties. draw from imagination as well

do this at least one hour a day (more if you have the time and don't work a full-time job) and within only a few weeks/months you will start noticing massive improvements as you build up your internal database of references in your memory
