not homo just /beg/ amirite?

Most of the lips and face knowledge stuff I got from Villpu and observation of other artists and real life photos.

The lip is a bit complex and it changes from person to person and the way it moves for making facial expressions or talking etc.

This is not a comprehensive tutorial just how a /beg/ like me does it personally do it. It is basically two rolls of flesh that is bent the upper one sitting on the lower like a pillow Vilppu calls it bird sitting in the nest.

The upper lip is generally darker than the lower one because the light comes from above most of the time but this will switch if it comes from below. The center of the lip is the darkest area.

1) The lower lip is generally brighter and has more surface for highlight but doesn't have a shadow on the underside

2)Upper lip is darker and is has a bit sharper changes in angle because of the middle, which also gives it the characteristic shine at the center top

3) The mouth is not 100% lips, the edge the lips gently fade away (unless heavy lipstick is applied) the mouth's line continues after the lips and narrows or completely fades even ad it runs into the corner of the mouth

4) Corner of the mouth is not always clearly visible in real life on real people I like to use it to show expressions. It can be a dot or a visible hole even

5) Lips are extremely flexible they stretch wide and become thinner when you smile and open your mouth but can turn into almost a ball when you pout are sad. If they stretch they loos a lot of their geography and become flat so the shadows and lights must be toned down while keeping the lip color. Of you can imagine the shape they take you should have an easier time to know how to shade it.

Final reminder, lips change from person to person due to age, gender, ethnicity etc., while there are certain averages and ideal sizes even men could have thick and charming lips without making them look gay or loosing their manliness.
