I've tried my hand at it, pic related. Have references, more than one if you can different angles if you can. have to have the under drawing pretty detailed, and and in perspective, you can see in the top left I didn't think that at first. as for trying to get lines strait, I bought something called an artist mahl, its basically a stick you hold on the corner of a canvas and you use it like a strait edge, but it doesn't touch the paint, I've also heard good things about using a pallet knife. and for really long lines like telephone wires, you can get something called a rigger brush, long thing brush that holds a lot of paint.
Always layer back to front, sky first, furthest object, ect, don't worry about getting detail, just get mass color in especially where the different objects intersect. you can also do an underpainting to work out all the edges and from just using a single color, I think i did that in the 3rd (bottom left) 4th I did the same but I used a bunch of different wacky colors to see what it would do.
Also learn to leave things out. Just because it's in the reference doesn't mean it has to be in the final.

Ya, I got carried away with the idea of what i was doing and didn't think about composition. I wanted to paint something multiple times, and have it be complex enough that you can compare and contrast mistakes.
