I mean I'm racing him. Part of the whole joke is that it's pretty self-important and uppity to set out to "beat" one of the most popular artists of the last 200 years.

Yeah he was a reaction against/commentary on the wave of industrialization that was fundamentally changing life as humankind knew it. He moved out to the country and painted peasants for years after he quit his art-adjacent job and decided he was going to pursue arting full time when he was 28.

Whereas I intend to market myself as a reaction against/commentary on the wave of internettilazation that is fundamentally changing life as humankind knows it. I moved out to a shitty duplex and painted memes for years after I quit my art-adjecent job to pursue arting full time when I was 28. And along with the historical parallels I have a similar mental health profile, similar family situation, socioeconomic background, etc. Perfect time for a squeakquel.

I mean shit dog I was kind of at the point where I was finally in demand and getting calls from more than the same 2 people when I bowed out. The way I see it I got enough practical experience to help me establish myself as a director/producer instead of doing schlep work in art or production.
