I drew an apple. Nice.

After a year of drawing line stuff, I tried doing some actual painting because I finally found a good explanation of how the oil brush works in CSP and because I want to break away from simple cel shading.

I'm not trying to be a painter, but I do appreciate that learning how to do this, at least to a mediocre degree, can translate into other areas.

So my question is how do I move forward? Where do I go next? I'm thinking of doing a bunch of studies, to properly understand the brushes, values, colors and how they work with form... how should I study if doing digital paintings isn't really my end goal (comics)? How do I do this?

For example, there's various levels of studying perspective, and there's no use studying the mathematics of it if all you want to do is draw coom art.
