It's about the amount of time he's spent drawing. Even now he's just average, posts long videos on youtube ranting about art, constantly saying he's "learned so much in the past year/month/week/yesterday." I had a friend that was like that back in the day people still gave a shit about WC3. He wanted to become a pro and he became a "good" player compared to average scrubs but he got raped by actual pros, later he got into SC2 and same thing happened again. That's volen.
