I can't think of any other creative hobby on this planet that has so many people breaking their backs to convince you not attempt X before having a wealth knowledge and years of experience under your belt before even attempting to do so. Knitters will tell you to start at making pompoms. Baker will tell you to make cookies first, woodsman will teach you a spice rack. But, when it comes to drawing fucking anime, you fags this learning the conmplex shit first is the best way to learn the easy shit, dispite it literally being the easy shit. Makes no fucking sense and what the fuck is your end game anyway?

CSP is my main bitch for now. I like it because it has a conceptually simple brush engine which can do a lot, it's fast enough for me (I usually never go above 3kx3k since I'm a beg), the engine is minimal enough but still easy to understand. Shortcuts are gold as well.

I used photoshop for a while as well, but the lack of things like pressure curves and built-in stabilization really kills it for me, especially since I have a medium tablet. Also, I don't like the way they do shortcuts. Of course most of this can be fixed with macros and that one pressure sensitivity changing program for wacom tablets, but I'd rather have things work out of the box.

Krita left a really bad taste in my mouth after I had a problem with it where the canvas cursor and the normal cursor didn't match. Don't want to go too into detail, but I'm fairly computer literate (I'm a programmer), and I still couldn't fix the problem, not even with the help of the forums, so I just dropped it. I can tell you it wasn't a hardware problem, because a year later it worked again, I think after a windows reinstall, so yeah, probably driver issues. I never have much faith in open source, free programs, unless they reach a kritical mass like blender did, I just can't really take them seriously. Also the UI is terrible, and I've had tons of bugs with brush collections. I don't like it.

Corel painter was something I always wanted to get into just because it looks great. At the end of the day I'm a round brush kiddie (because again, beg), so it'd probably not do anything for me. I actually downloaded it once, and the UI was garbo (it was one of the most recent versions too), and I couldn't find a way to have the standard, non-flow based opacity photoshop and other programs have.

The trash bin is a great drawing tool as well, because it can erase all my mistakes in one click of the delete key. Shit's great!

Honorable mention goes to paint storm studio.
