There's about a million sources that show how professionals keep using references all the time and thoroughly recommend them*. I've grown very fond of Ethan Becker, and his background as a professional on DreamWorks and Universal back his statements**

Also, I think what you mean is "gesture", because yeah, there's a name for it. Maybe you didn't know? I'm well aware that I need mileage to improve it and that is why I've been increasing the amount of smart practice I do lately (pic related). Check how sizes (sketches) increase as the time goes on. And it will only increase as I practise more and more and get better and better
