What's with the prevalence of these threads the past year? Seems there is a weekly thread now bitching about this style of illustration.

This shit isn't taking away from your coomer commissions, or your digital paintings of space orcs and dragons. Why does /ic/ feel so threatened by it? It has to be jealousy, right? Not quite, but you're almost there. The 'starving artist' stereotype exists because most artists are absolutely terrible at making a sustainable income off their work. Most people don't understand how entrepreneurial it is to be a working artist, and they'll completely neglect to develop those skills only to then complain about not making enough money.
