Also as I will be dumping krenz, one more thing:

Copy and draw a lot. Don't be afraid of it, if you feel that your art sucks, just go find a nice picture/photo that you'd like and copy it. You will feel better and hopefully your shapes and lines will improve.

>How could boxes help in the construction? How could they have improved pic rel?

Perspective errors are usually what kills the piece. I found it pretty much true for quite a lot of beginner-intermidiate art and studies.

Think about it: during painting or drawing process you usually want to give an illusion of 3D on 2D surface. Even in very abstract paintings it's usually true, even more so when you can sculpt with paint or layer it (light going through Rothko paintings is a good example). Hell, even such things like "White on white" have some sense of space.

Learning how to draw boxes in space (and cylinders, but mainly boxes) is a good way to develop the sense of spatial awarness and how to represent 3D.

Main thing though - boxes help with proportions, because you can orient yourself in regards to those.

>but it's useless unless you only draw nudes

Not really. First thing: you don't need to know every muscle. You need to know some and most importantly - you need to know the bones enough to recognize landmarks on the body - where pelvis pops-up through skin or you can see shoulders.

Also clothing wrap-up around big muscles, so you will know where folds of clothing will form or how they will obscure/represent the underlying form.

Also dumping some Krenz

Look up krenz and his whole ripped lessons he did on his Patreon, they are in artbook thread (check catalog). He is heavily influenced by KJG, he even mentions him during his lessons (as greates korean artist and how he boxes perspective like that)

Reposting some .jpg of his.

Old thread's dead
>>2722073 (OP)

Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make your mom proud.

AVOID asking unrelated questions, there is a question thread for that.

RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:

#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead (I recommend ShareX)

#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller

#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

There's a new (and cleaner) sticky in town! You can see it at:

>Thread study: Try to draw/paint the opening or any other following images.
Feel free to post your original works as well if you're trash.

TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

On drawabox guy teaches construction, basics of perspective, how to develop good lines etc.

He gives this advice in pretty good form, I mean, if you look into say, Scott Robertson, he says pretty much the same things.

"Pretty much" and "basics" is where the problem is. He doesn't go farther than that. See in OP:

Pic of the fishing girl, monster in water and a car all have same camera lens (monster is flipped, but it's the same). It's apparent that with more difficult views/extreme camera angles a guy would simply give a pass.

Actually pic of a car encapsulates all that is wrong with him (I mean, his autoportrait too, look at that pathetic brown face and no proper hair on face, lol, what a faggot, face of a loser).

1. His choice of colors is terrible. They are all washed out and simply not appealing. Terrible color palette choices. He also blends a lot, a cardinal mistake.

2. Values, they aren't his strong points. He didn't really studied them and doesn't know how light works. He GUESSES that there should be reflection under the car, that there should be highlights on the side of a car from light source, but there's no understanding.

3. Proportions (and perspective). It's main mistake of his. He doesn't keep them. He isn't accurate. There is good thinking behind his strokes, composition of a scene isn't bad...but execution is just lazy. Not accurate. He couldn't rotate that car he draw even if his life dependent on it.

He can though draw volumes on photos and Part One: Basics of his drawabox isn't really wrong, it's all good exercise. Problem is, that there's not much after it.

Btw, if when you say someone is shit, it tells others nothing. Better explain to them why he is shit and where he sucks. Because there's some competence there - but a lack of it everywhere else.
