Today I drew how I draw eyes normally, without knowing anything about the construction of them.
(The pair above the single, more detailed eye)

Then I looked at an anime eye study. I took note of the line weight at the corner of the eyes. Using variable weights to create the shape of both the lashes and the eyeball itself. It's subtle details that convey a larger idea of an eye. I looked at how artist place their shines in the iris, and I try to figure out why the lights in that area make sense.

As you can see, it's not so so good, but literally ten minutes of looking at how people draw eyes, and then attempting to recreate those elements in a way that you like, will make you better.

Also it's all shapes. It's literally all shapes. I didn't belive it for awhile and continued on, doing the wrong thing. But truely, spend time drawing boxes and spheres. Different sizes, different angles. As not only does it help you develop a sense of perspective, and a feel for your selected medium, it trains your hand and mind to use these things as a scaffold for the rest.

The thing that makes the drawing look correct, imo, are it's subtle features that go around the boxes.
