Yeah, you're taste and ability to discern good and bad excels at a far more rapid pace than your execution of said skill. You always see more than you can actually pull off and that's what makes improvement frustrating because you hit larger and larger plateaus before your mastery of the skill improves. You want to be staying in the middle to upper right in pic related but upper right is uncomfortable and most people shy away from there.

This is why "pyw" is stupid because you can be unskilled at something but still give useful feedback.

How much time do you guys think OP's art high will last? I don't give it more than a day.

Nothing. Just your ability to see flaws in your own work improved faster than your ability to draw. It happens.

I get frustrated too, but the reality is it always comes back to this graph. If you're not getting past those frustrating points you need to keep trying new ways of improving yourself until something works.

Also, you will never be able to fairly judge yourself so keep that in mind. Your mistakes probably aren't as obvious to everyone else. Just keep doing your best.

If you think your drawings are shit thats good. If you actually think your drawings are good you will not improve, and you need to train your eyesight and observation more, until you think your drawings are shit again. That is the eternal artist improvement cycle.

Morning Lassers
Most of you probably know this but heres a reminder that thinking your art is absolute shit is an essential part of improving as an artist.

My heart skipped a beat - never knew I'd live to see the day that my drawings would be used to start a thread.

Though I agree that making art is something you should enjoy as a whole, there are certain periods of time, like art blocks, where you just loathe everything. I usually see such times as periods for learning, as it's where you're starting to see bits in your art that you can fix. Pic related.

I guess it's good to vent frustrations here and there, but always remember to have fun d/ic/kheads. It's one of those things that help carry you through.

Think you're critical of yourself now, just wait until you get over the beginner's hump and arrive in your first of many plateau hells.
Just keep going anon, this is only the beginning.

Since there are so many people who feel they don't make any progress or in general feel bad about their art, I thought I'd share this graph I've stolen from DA, made by Shattered-earth. Just keep it in mind.

this might be helpful to know. apart from that, just know that the way to get through it is just keep drawing and trying to figure out what looks wrong
