I'm switching between Keys to Drawing and drawabox, and I'm having problems knowing when to use one or the other.

I drew pic related using the free handwriting method from KtD -- drawing blind, restating, thinking arbitrary shapes, trying to make it fluid and confident, sorta doing it as I go.

But in drawabox, the guy advocates forethought with ghosting, planning things out before you draw -- which is totally fucking me up when I try to draw "naturally" from KtD.

What am I missing here? If I want to draw from life, should I just ignore drawabox? Is drawabox meant to be only for drawing from imagination?
