well then you have to do more studies, when I started was with the normal colors of anime, for the skin soft light yellow, for the shadows pink-orange or use multiply and etc
but now I try to understand colors of the artist or the art that i like the most
try to understand light and background and how they react
or use random colors you'll never use and try to make them work together even if it's difficult
idk man it's all about the studies, nothing more
I leave some studies and drawings with some of the names of the artists that inspired/inspire me
