Landscape layers, not photoshop layers.
Landscape composition can be broken down into fore, mid and background, they get lighter the further away they are because of something called "aerial perspective". The local value of your object doesn't matter here.

You need to do simple value thumbnails to make sure your contrast isn't fucked before you start actually painting.

Yes, of course it's changing the pose. Look at pic related and read a book or something, I can't explain to you the basics of figure drawing here.
I didn't fix your anatomy 'cause you wouldn't learn anything from that. It's too early.

Forget that. Rendering didn't mess up your drawing. Your drawing should look good with or without any amount of rendering.
